Historical Visits to Sites of the Great War

I paid a number of visits to the Western Front in World War One in the eighties and nineties, most of them with [Major & Mrs] Holts Battlefield Tours.

These visits were very moving and I often I wrote down my impressions in letters to my father, a veteran of World War Two.

I found some of those letters recently and they brought memories flooding back to me.

Six Days On The Somme 1982: (surely the best ever Holts Tour)

Six Days In Ypres 1983 (as above but further north)

Gary And Geoff Go To France 1986 (first independent tour)

Easter Rising, 1996 (made me reassess who I am)

To Follow: Falklands/Malvinas 1994, 80th Anniversary of Gallipoli 1995, First visit to Western Front 1981
